Submission Advice

Actors Submission Advice

When submitting yourself for work the
MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE:

1. MAKE SURE YOU ARE 100% RIGHT FOR THE ROLE and

2. KEEP YOUR SUBMISSION SHORT.

Further advice: Always put the name of the job (ie "Renault Commercial") in the subject bar unless otherwise instructed.

Have ready a standard email with links to your Spotlight, Casting Networks, Star Now, Mandy and/or IMDB profile. If you do not have an entry on any of these databases a SMALL j-peg photo (no larger than 100KB) and Word Document CV attached.

In the body of the e-mail address the casting director by name, "Dear John/Jane etc".

Write one SHORT sentence as to which role you are submitting yourself for and a second SHORT sentence as to exactly why you are suitable for it, followed by "My details can be viewed in the attachments or at the links."

At the foot of the mail have "Yours sincerely," followed by your name, telephone number and any links to The Spotlight, Castingnetworks Star Now or Mandy where your CV and photo may be viewed. If you have an agent you need to also leave their contact details, a casting director may choose to approach you via your agent even though you have put yourself forward.

In this way you are allowing the casting director to see you and approach you in whichever way they choose. Many actors only give them one choice.

Finally, you need only submit yourself once. A second approach is unnecessary and may cause irritation. Dont forget, its a highly competitive industry, you may have to submit for a number of updates before being seen for an audition.
