Submission Advice

Actors Submission Advice

When submitting yourself for work the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE:

1. MAKE SURE YOU ARE 100% RIGHT FOR THE ROLE and

2. KEEP YOUR SUBMISSION SHORT.

Further advice: Always put the name of the job (ie "Renault Commercial") in the subject bar unless otherwise instructed.

Have ready a standard email with a SMALL j-peg photo (no larger than 100KB) and Word Document CV attached.

In the body of the e-mail address the casting director by name, "Dear John/Jane etc".

Write one SHORT sentence as to which role you are submitting yourself for and a second SHORT sentence as to exactly why you are suitable for it, followed by "My details can be viewed in the attachments or at the links below"

At the foot of the mail have "Yours sincerely," followed by your name, telephone number and any links to The Spotlight, Castingnetworks or Casting Call Pro where your CV and photo may also be viewed. If you have an agent you need to also leave their contact details, a casting director may choose to approach you via your agent even though you have put yourself forward.

In this way you are allowing the casting director to see you and approach you in whatever way they choose. Many actors only give them one choice.

Finally, you need only submit yourself once. A second approach is unnecessary and may cause irritation. Dont forget, its a highly competitive industry, you may have to submit for a number of jobs before being seen for audition.
